🇺🇸 Post 16 Member and Community Engagement Events

 

American Legion Post 16, located at 116 Lorrie Quinn Drive in Crisfield, MD, serves as a hub for veterans and the local community.  It hosts and sponsors various events throughout the year to engage members, support the American Legion family and to promote the post to visitors to the region.  There are Shrimp NIghts every 1st  Friday of the month open to the public, monthly members nights, holiday celebrations and other engaging events planned by Legionnaires, SAL and AUX.  Signature partnership events include the BIG Little Townfest featuring the World's Largest Rubber Duck coming July 25-27, the National Hard Crab Derby in its 78th year and the Tangier Fishing Classic Fundraiser which benefits local children in need of medical support.  Mark this page to see all the upcoming events you will want to attend!

🦆 World's Largest Rubber Duck: A Quirky Attraction July 25-27

The World's Largest Rubber Duck will be making another appearance in Crisfield, at the Wellington Beach/Post 16 area attracting visitors with its massive size and whimsical charm. The duck has been part of the BIG Little Townfest, a celebration featuring art, music, and local culture. Events like these contribute to the town's vibrant community spirit along with supporting Veterans with service dogs and Friends of Crisfield.  Legionnaires and active military get in free!

🦀 National Hard Crab Derby: Labor Day Weekend Tradition

Held annually in Crisfield, known as the "Crab Capital of the World," the National Hard Crab Derby is a beloved Labor Day weekend event celebrating the region's seafood heritage. Activities include crab races, cooking contests, crafts, live entertainment, beauty pageants, a parade, and fireworks. The event takes place at Somers Cove Marina.  American Legion members get in the gate for free with a coaster you can pick up at Post 16 and other local Americna Legions while supplies last.

🎣 Tangier Classic Fishing Tournament: A Community-Focused Event

The Tangier Classic Fishing Tournament is scheduled for September 26–28, 2025, at American Legion Post 16. The tournament includes fishing competitions, a corn hole tournament, and a fundraiser party. Proceeds benefit a local child in need, continuing the event's tradition of community support.
